Gold American Eagle | Annual Mintages

Bullion Exchanges presents you with this valuable infographic that depicts the heatmap for gold bullion mintage figures since 1986. After the passage of the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985, the United States Mint began to mint gold bullion coins after more than fifty-three years had passed since the United States abandoned the gold standard.

Since 1986, the U.S. Mint has produced a variety of different coins and programs that featured iconic designs and timeless images. The first to be released was the Gold American Eagle, followed by the Gold Proof Eagle. These coins have been annually released except certain years when some versions were not issued.

On this graphic, we show you the mintage figures for the different variations of each coin per year. This graphic should help explain why and how certain years might carry higher premiums as well as how you can plan on buying coins at the best rates.
