Gold American Buffalos | Annual Mintage

Bullion Exchanges prides itself on keeping its customers up to date with the most important information on bullion. Take a look at this heatmap for gold bullion mintage figures from 1986 through today.

Gold Buffalo coins are relatively new to the bullion scene, as they were first released in 2006. For their tie to the history of American mintage as well as for the fact that they were the first 24-karat bullion coin offered for sale by the U.S. Mint, these coins are globally appreciated and highly valuable.

The Gold Buffalo series releases annually, but not all editions are released each year. You can count on the one ounce size in Proof condition, although the mintage numbers have fluctuated each year, ranging from anywhere between 246,267 (the first year of release) to only 16,591 (2015 release). For Reverse Proof and Uncirculated, there has only been one year of release, 2013 and 2008, respectively, giving these releases an extra element to the already high demand.

This graphic brings you the specific mintage figures every year for all variations of each coin. Armed with this information, you can better understand higher premiums for certain releases and ensure your ability to buy coins at the most competitive rates.
