Gold American Buffalos

Gold American Buffalos

The Gold American Buffalo coin is one of the first few coins produced by the United States Mint that feature 24 karat .9999 pure gold. Since many investors prefer 99.99% pure gold coins, the Gold American Buffalo Bullion Coin was created to compete with international gold coins of the highest purity, like the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf. Since being released in 2006, the Gold American Buffalo Bullion Coin is one of the most sought-after coins amongst all US Gold Coins.

The purity of the Gold American Buffalo Bullion Coin is guaranteed by the United States Mint, which makes this an outstanding collectible and an excellent way to diversify your investment portfolio. These coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, as well as certified. The coins are available in several weights from fractional sizes of 1/10 oz., ¼ oz. and ½ oz. to the most popular size of 1 oz. Due to the coin’s popularity and the increase in gold price, the Gold American Buffalo Bullion Coin price has added significant value.

The coins are also recognized for their unique packaging: larger quantities are sealed in special sheets, while individual coins are cut off from a mint sealed sheet, but still sealed in their special packaging and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the U.S. Mint. Gold American Buffalos are eligible for Individual Retirement Accounts so you can buy them as one of your retirement options.

The Design of Gold American Buffalos

The design of the Gold American Buffalo Bullion Coin was inspired from the first Buffalo Nickels minted back in 1913 and belongs to the famous American sculptor James Earl Fraser who was a student of the legendary Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the creator of the Gold American Eagle design. The images depicted on the coins represent the wonderful natural and native heritage of the American West. The obverse side of the coin features a profile image of a Native American with an incredibly detailed face and hair braid elements, as well as exceptionally engraved feathers. According to Fraser, he created a mixture of features for three different American Indian tribes’ chiefs, Big Tree (Seneca), Iron Tail (Lakota), and Two Moons (Cheyenne) that posed for him for the profile sketch. The Native American image is surrounded by the year of mintage, the “F” which stands for Fraser, and the word “Liberty” is inscribed. The reverse side of the coin is a profile depiction of the majestic American Bison, commonly referred to as the buffalo, the lasting symbol of the American West. Its depiction was inspired by the 1,550 pound Black Diamond bison that lived in New York City’s Central Park Zoo in the 1910s. It’s believed that Fraser had to ask someone to distract the buffalo’s attention by sneaking around it and positioning it in a way so that he could get the perfect profile. Along with the beautiful buffalo, the reverse side of the coin contains the “United States of America”, “In God We Trust” and “E Pluribus Unum” inscriptions, as well as the weight and purity marks.
