The obverse of the Gold Eagle coin continues to display the Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ Lady Liberty design. This side was only subject to minor updates to clean up the illustration. Lady Liberty continues to walk forth, holding a flaming torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Rays of sunlight radiate from the US Capitol behind her.

The reverse of the Gold Eagle features a close-up image of the left side of a bald eagle’s head as designed by AIP artist Jennie Norris. Inscriptions surround the eagle including the country, weight, purity, denomination, “E Pluribus Unum”, and “In God We Trust”.
