The Queen’s Beasts Collection is a series that honors Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II as the world’s longest-reigning monarch. This series began in 2016, the same year she achieved this world record, to showcase the heraldic creatures that stood guard over her coronation in 1953. All coins in the series arrive in gold, silver, and platinum editions. This final release is the White Greyhound of Richmond. This specific animal symbolizes the amalgamation of the houses of York and Lancaster. Several monarchs sported this badge including the creator, John of Gaunt, and later Henry IV and Henry VII. The White Greyhound was the most popular breed in Northern England when this Coat of Arms was established by John of Gaunt. The rose symbolizes the bond between two rival houses.
The obverse of the White Greyhound coin showcases the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with her royal diadem and matching earrings. Inscriptions include the face value, her name, and "D.G. REG F. D." which means "By the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith" in Latin.
The reverse of this coin features the White Greyhound dog standing on its hind legs with its front paws dangling over a shield. The shield carries Tudor Rose with the Royal Crown on top.
