The world-famous Queen's Beasts series was issued by the Royal Mint in 2016 by releasing the “Lion of England” coin. This beautiful program features the ten beasts that stood guard at the coronation of Her Majesty and each one of them supports a badge of arms of every family that has been associated with the Queen’s ancestry. This particular heraldic beast conveys the Queen’s heritage with Henry VII and his mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort. Lady Margaret is most renowned for her involvement in the War of the Roses, but is especially honored for her charitable history with higher education. Therefore, the mythical Yale beast is a mark of higher education, hence Yale University!
