US Mint WWII Anniversary Bullion Coins & Medals
Grounding WWII History in Gold and Silver Coins and Silver Medals
The US Mint loves to honor the history of the world through commemorative coins. Two examples include the American Eagle coins. The gold and silver American Eagles have never had a privy mark before. Also, these coins are even rarer because the Gold Eagle is the lowest mintage 1 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin ever. However, this is not the only way the US Mint honors WWII in 2020. In addition to the WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins, the US Mint also struck the limited edition 75th Anniversary Proof Silver Medals and Proof Gold Coins. These new releases' designs feature new renditions of the 1945 WWII Victory Medals. When you look to honor the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII, you can count on Bullion Exchanges to provide the top new US Mint products.
The Rarest Gold American Eagle Coin So Far
The WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins will be the first gold and silver American Eagle coins to ever receive a privy mark. Additionally, the Proof Silver American Eagles have a limited mintage of only 75,000, making them one of the lowest mintage Silver Eagles. But, the Gold American Eagles are particularly special because they have the lowest mintage of any American Eagle coin in US history. But, the minuscule mintage of these WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins does not fall below the 2008 W ½ oz Burnished Platinum Eagle. That Platinum Eagle specifically has the lowest mintage of just 2,253. However, investors seem to prefer the gold coins over the Platinum American Eagles. So this means that this Gold Eagle coin has the lowest mintage in the Gold Eagle series. Because this coin is gold, it actually has a higher built-in demand owing to its metal content. So, in terms of gold coins, the lowest mintage of the 1 oz denomination series was once the 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle from 2012 (only 23,630). But, the previous lowest mintage for any denomination of the Proof Gold Eagles was the 2013 ½ oz with 12,570. The new WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins in gold will be much rarer than those with a mintage of only 1,945—the year WWII ended.
What is the Significance of the WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins Privy Mark?
These WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins have a higher built-in demand simply because they are struck from gold (and silver). This is on top of their low mintage, and they are the first-ever privy marked Silver and Gold American Eagles. Because of these factors, these just might be the most in-demand, collectible American Eagles ever. If you are interested in investing, you should act quickly and purchase an authenticated, graded version before retailers run out! Privy marks tend to be a symbolic picture and not simply a letter, like a mintmark. Furthermore, the US Mint defines a privy mark as “...a symbol that communicates information about a coin’s production.” This privy mark, especially, is incredibly rare. It appears as “V75” on the obverse of these WWII Anniversary American Eagle coins. The “V” stands for ‘victory,’ while the "75" honors the special 75th Anniversary triumph of the Allied powers. If you look carefully at the privy mark, you might notice the shape of the cartouche resembles the border of the Rainbow Pool. The Rainbow Pool is stationed in the West Potomac Park in Washington, DC. Although the Rainbow Pool was not originally part of the memorial, it was officially dedicated to it in 2004. You can find this privy mark on the US Mint’s most prominent coins: the gold and silver American Eagles. But, you might also find the privy mark on a coin in your wallet! This special privy mark also appears on the 2020 West Point (W) America the Beautiful quarters released for general circulation. This literally puts history into the hands and pockets of Americans, and it is a beautiful way to honor the end of a tragic war. You can further honor this historical moment by being one of the select few to have a Gold WWII Anniversary American Eagle coin.
