The 2020-W V75 Privy 1 oz Proof Gold American Eagle End of WWII 75th Anniv (w/Box & COA) is a special release by the US Mint. This 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle commemorates the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII with the special V75 privy mark. This Gold American Eagle also has the lowest American Eagle production amount ever with a maximum mintage of only 1,945, commemorating the year in which WWII ended. The American Eagle Program began in 1986 with the release of Gold and Silver American Eagles.  What makes these Gold American Eagles special is the V75 privy mark. This privy mark is in the shape of the Rainbow Pool memorial in Washington, DC. Inside is the letter V and the number 75 that stands for ‘victory’ and the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII.

The obverse of this commemorative V75 Privy 1 oz Proof Gold Eagle bears the same Augustus Saint-Gaudens illustration as on other gold eagle coins. This is the striking image of Lady Liberty as she proudly strides forth, clutching a torch in one hand and a laurel branch in the other. Her draped clothing and her hair gently flow behind her in the wind. The capitol building lies behind her with the sunrise breaking from behind it in the background. The border is encircled by small stars. The obverse also showcases the special V75 privy mark and West Point mintmark.

The reverse of the 2020 Gold Eagle, styled by Miley Busiek, depicts a family of bald eagles. One parent eagle is in mid-flight, returning to its nest. In the nest awaits the other parent eagle with their hatchlings. The returning eagle holds an olive branch in its talons.
