The US Gold Eagle coins continue to be among the most popular bullion coins throughout the world since their inception in 1986. The US Mint’s American Eagle series pays homage to two of the most famous American symbols: the majestic bald eagle and the powerful Lady Liberty. However, after this year, the famed Miley Busiek design on the reverse will change to include a new hyper-realistic image of a bald eagle and a security feature. Similarly, the Silver Eagle coins will also have a new reverse image, and both updates will be available later in 2021. However, the Platinum and Palladium Eagle coins remain the same at this time. 

On the obverse, Lady Liberty comes to life as a beacon of hope walking towards the viewer. She bears a lit torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, lighting the way to hope and peace for the nation. Her hair and gown flow softly in the wind, while the sunshine radiates from the US Capitol behind her. Additionally, you’ll find the inscriptions “2021” and “LIBERTY" on this side.  

The reverse displays the revered Miley Busiek illustration, “A Family of Eagles.” One parent returns bearing an olive branch back to its family in their nest. The eagles represent the strong American values of the family. Each gold coin features the weight, face value, and the inscriptions “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
