Each Big Five Africa Shaped coin is authorized as legal tender by the Republic of Chad. Additionally, each shaped coin is individually serialized, enhancing the collector's appeal.

The obverse features a small image of the Big 5 walking single file next to an African Baobab tree. The phrase “AFRICA BIG 5” is inscribed in the coin’s center, right above the Coat of arms of Chad. The weight, purity, and denomination are also shown on the obverse.

The reverse showcases a stunning collage of the Big 5 animals, uniquely shaped to form the continent of Africa. The lion’s face looks out from West Africa with its mane extending into Northern Africa. The leopard stares ahead from the region of West Africa as well as Central Africa. The buffalo stoically gazes over the Eastern side of North Africa and the elephant extends its tusks over Eastern Africa.  Lastly, the black rhino stands firm in Southern Africa.
