So act fast before it’s sold out for good! The name Terra Australis originates back to Roman times. Not too long ago in the past, Australia was completely uncharted. Originally, different depictions of Australia existed on world maps until the British navigator James Cook reached the country. Cook was part of the British Royal Navy, and he is credited with charting the first maps of the eastern coast of Australia. Because of this voyage, the unknown wildlife in Australia could be documented.  Since then, the animals of Australia are widely known by the rest of the world. Then, in 1835, Joseph Whitworth, an English inventor, patented the first gear “hobbing” process. This mechanical achievement made way for many industrial advancements in the 20th century. The Perth Mint's first opal coin release was in 2008, with their "Treasures Of Australia" coin. They did not start with individual "opal animals" until 2012, with the release of the Wombat and Koala. The Pygmy Possum soon followed in 2013. Depending on their condition and if they are certified, they can be worth anywhere between $90 and $170 each.
