2020 2 oz Silver Tuvalu Industry in Motion Gear-Shaped Antiqued 2-Coin Set (w/Box & COA)
The Perth Mint set the gears in motion for an exciting new release! Bullion Exchanges now offers the 2020 2 oz Silver Tuvalu Industry in Motion Gear-Shaped Antiqued 2-Coin Set (w/Box & COA). Each coin in the 2-coin set contains .9999 fine silver and weighs 1 troy ounce. Issued as legal tender by the government of Tuvalu, each coin carries a face value of $1 (TVD). A special presentation case contains a mechanism to rotate the spinning gear coins while on display, an exciting way to show the cog coins in motion. These coins will stand out among any collection due to their unique “gear” shape and individually antiqued finish. Be sure to grab one of these limited mintage sets before time runs out- as only a maximum of 1,500 sets will be produced.
Widely considered one of the oldest pieces of equipment known to mankind, the use of the cogwheel (also known as a cog or gear), dates back to ancient times. The great philosopher Aristotle, along with various mathematicians and engineers, first referenced this element of machinery as early as the 4th Century (BCE).
In 1835, Joseph Whitworth, an English inventor, patented the first gear ‘hobbing’ process which led to industrial achievements that continued into the 20th Century.
The obverse of the coins features Ian Rank-Broadley’s rendering of Queen Elizabeth II wearing her royal crown.
The reverse of the coins displays toothed cogs growing bigger from the center of the coins to the outer rim.
