James Bond: A Brief Introduction
Ian Flemming first introduced James Bond in 1953, featuring him in 12 novels and two collections of short stories. Following Ian Flemming’s death in 1964, eight other authors wrote novels or stories featuring the famous deadly secret agent.
Besides gracing the pages of numerous novels, James Bond has been adapted for television, radio, comics, video games, and of course, film. Starting in 1962 with “Dr. No”, the James Bond film series has grossed over $7.040 billion in total. Consequently, it also holds the title of "longest continually running film franchise of all time". Many notable actors have portrayed James Bond. Sean Connery famously originated the movie role, followed by David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and currently, Daniel Craig. Another upcoming Bond film, “No Time to Die” is set to release later this year. This film will subsequently end Daniel Craig's tenure as the skilled secret spy.
