Ellis Island Monument Coins Sold Out
On August 29, the US Mint issued its 2017 Ellis Island National Monument 5-ounce silver bullion coins. Three days later, all 40,000 of the Ellis Island coins sold. The US Mint will not produce any additional coins of this design. The Ellis Island series is the fourth release of five in America the Beautiful Silver Coin Series of 2017. The Philadelphia Mint inventory still hass an undisclosed amount of 2016 Harpers Ferry National Park silver bullion coins. To date, 48,000 of these coins sold. The next in the series will release to authorized purchasers on November 13th. This coin, the 40th issue out of the 56, of the ATB Coin Series, commemorates the George Rogers National Historical Park. It is a nod to Indiana. This coin features one of the most significant victories of the American Revolution, led by Colonel George Rogers Clark. Authorized purchasers both buy and sell bullion coins from the US Mint. This, in turn, creates a two-way market. This includes approved buyers in of American Eagle gold, silver, and platinum bullion coins, as well as American Buffalo gold bullion coins. Thus far this year, sales of 3-inch 5 ounce silver bullion coins have been decreasing. 35,000 Effigy Mounds National Monument 5-ounce silver bullion coins sold. Yet only 20,000 of the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site and Ozark National Scenic Railway sold. Sales of the 2016 ATB releases numbered 105,000 for the Shawnee National Forest coin. Also, there were 75,000 for the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park release. The end of the year sales of the releases were even lower — 40,000 for the Theodore Roosevelt National Park coin and 35,000 for the Fort Moultrie coin.
