The Mexican Libertad series is unmatched for quality and visual appeal. This series is widely considered to be amongst one of the most beautiful collections in the bullion world. The coins feature intricate and artistic designs. Additionally, you'll find quality in the purity of its gold, and silver content. Furthermore, unlike similar series, these coins release with a low mintage limit - adding an extra element of demand.

The Mexican Libertad

One factor that makes the Libertad stand out is its strong ties to Mexican history. It features the design from the Centenario coin between 1921 and 1947. It is the Winged Victory. The Winged Victory also features two of Mexico's most famous volcanoes: Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl.  The Centenario was issued initially as a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Mexico’s freedom from Spain. The Libertad also features an image of the Mexican Coat of Arms. These images make the Libertad a celebration of Mexican independence and its national identity. Symbols in Mexican Culture

Each image on the coin represents a significant symbol in Mexican culture. So, the two volcanoes here are no different. Iztaccihuatl and Popocatepetl stand over the Valley of Mexico. They are the second and third highest peaks in Mexico. It makes them visible even from space. Popocatepetl is one of the most active volcanoes in the region and has produced smoke since 1993. Iztaccihuatl is dormant but links to Popocatepetl in history by the Paso de Cortez. As the legend goes, a princess fell in love with the warrior Popocatepetl. Iztaccihuatl’s father sent him off to war. Iztaccihuatl falsely promised his daughter’s hand in marriage to Popocatepetl if he returned safely. As soon as he’d gone, her father arranged several other suitors for her. He was confident that Popocatepetl would not return. Iztaccihuatl then killed herself rather than marry another.  When Popocatepetl returned from the war, in his grief, he carried her body into the mountains, where he died, buried in snow. God transformed the two lovers into volcanoes. Even today Popocatepetl rains smoke and fire on the city as he rages for the loss of his love. All while Iztaccihuatl sleeps beside him.
