The US Mint persevered through 2020 and 2021 but faced hardships in keeping its workers safe and maintaining its production schedule in 2021 with its silver shortage. Because of limited resources at its facilities, many silver coins were delayed, including the 2021 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars. Because of the silver shortage, production for the 2020 and 2021 Silver Eagle coins was also delayed, especially due to the remarkably high investment demand for silver all around the world. From both the world health crisis and the silver shortage, these 2021 Silver Eagle coins are designated as Emergency Issues. Framed with modern history, these special 2021 Silver Eagle coins will be memorable pieces in your collection forever.
The obverse bears the 1916 Adolph A. Weinman “Walking Liberty” illustration originally used for the American silver half dollars from the early 1900s. Lady Liberty moves towards the rising sun with one arm stretched towards the rising sun. The American flag waves behind her shoulders as she carries a bundle of olive and oak branches in her left arm.
The coin’s reverse displays John Mercanti’s version of the US Coat of Arms for the last time. This illustration displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings, carrying arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. Clutched in its beak is a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its chest bears a shield with the US flag, and 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head as a symbol of the original colonies.
