In 1995 the U.S. Mint issued a special 5-coin set to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Silver Eagle Program. The set included four proof gold eagle coins and one proof silver eagle, featuring the “W” mintmark for the first time. Only 45,000 Sets were sold. Hence the 1995-W 1 oz Proof Silver American Eagle became one of the rarest and most sought-after silver eagles with a mintage of only 30,125 pieces - one of the lowest in the history of the Silver Eagle program.
