The US Mint struggled through the world health crisis to keep its workers safe and maintain its production into 2021 with a shortened silver supply. Because of limited resources at its facilities, many silver coins were delayed, such as the 2021 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars. Production for the 2020 and 2021 Silver Eagle coins was also delayed as a result of the silver shortage, especially due to the high investment demand for silver internationally. Therefore, these 2021 Silver Eagle coins are designated as Emergency Issues, are rife with modern history, and are among the last graded editions to carry the original reverse design. Be sure to secure yours now.
The obverse displays the original 1916 Adolph A. Weinman “Walking Liberty” design found on American silver half dollars from the early 1900s. Lady Liberty marches to the coin’s left, reaching her arm towards the rising sun with the American flag waving in the background behind her. She also bears a bounty of olive and oak branches in her left arm.
The coin’s reverse displays John Mercanti’s updated United States national coat of arms. This illustration displays a bald eagle with outstretched wings. It holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. Clutched in its beak is a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its chest bears a shield with the US flag, and 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head as a symbol of the original colonies.
