The new reverses for both capture the American Bald Eagle in a more realistic form. The Type 2 Silver Eagle displays an American Eagle in mid-flight. Additionally, the obverse has been further modified to more closely resemble the original Adolph A Weinman “Walking Liberty” design.

The obverse continues to show the historic design by Adolph A Weinman’s “Walking Liberty”. This illustration was last seen on the 1916-1947 silver half-dollar, and it arrives with restored elements including Weinman's initials, the year of mintage font, as well as minor details for Liberty's eye, bonnet, flag, and the solar rays. Lady Liberty strides forth towards the setting sun. She carries oak and laurel branches in her left arm while outstretching her right arm to the horizon.
