The V75 Privy mark on the 2020-W Proof Gold Eagle makes this year’s issue truly stand out. The “V” stands for “Victory” and the number “75” marks the number of years that have passed since WWII officially ended. The privy mark itself is shaped like the Rainbow Pool in Washington DC, which was designed by Frederick Olmsted Jr. This reflection pool was notably integrated into the World War II Memorial in 2001. The V-Day label on the NGC holder refers to “Victory Day”, the date in 1945 when countries across the world celebrated the end of WWII.

The obverse of the V75 Privy Proof Gold Eagle depicts the famous Augustus Saint-Gaudens design of Lady Liberty striding forward while carrying a torch and a laurel branch. The capitol building stands tall behind her as the sunrise glimmers over the top. The obverse also features the special edition V75 privy mark as well as the W mintmark.

The reverse of the 2020 Gold Eagle, designed by artist Miley Busiek, showcases a family of bald eagles. While clutching an olive branch in its talons, one parent lands in its nest- where the other eagle parent and young hatchlings await.
