In 2020, the US Mint has faced numerous challenges to get its Silver Eagles coins into the hands of investors. From the Emergency Issue Silver Eagles to this new Emergency Issue release, the Silver Eagles coins have made history just before moving into the 35th Anniversary of the program. The John Mercanti reverse appears one last time in 2020 from the same mint that was among the first to strike the first American Eagles coins.
The obverse design features the classic Weinman Walking Liberty illustration wherein Lady Liberty walks towards the sun that is rising for a new day. She carries some oak and laurel branches in her left arm as her right outstretches to the sun. The US flag appears over her shoulders, gently waving in the wind along with her dress. The reverse design as created by John Mercanti in 1986 proudly displays a heraldic bald eagle. This eagle has a US flag shield on its chest, a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons, and thirteen stars above its head.
