He wanted to create a contemporary Ghanaian woman with features reminiscent of the ethnic Akan group, along with other diverse groups of her heritage. Iskowitz combined traditional Adinkra design elements with more modern print patterns like Kente and Ankara styles. The woman gazes forward towards the future. The beautifully colorized Ghanaian Coat of Arms is displayed next to the bust of African Liberty. The denomination and the phrase “Freedom and Justice” are also included on this side of the note.

The reverse (back) of the gold note showcases a larger Ghanaian Coat of Arms in blue, which includes the phrase “Freedom and Justice” on a banner beneath an emblematic shield. The denomination and phrase “Republic of Ghana” are both included on this side as well.
