About Somalian Silver Elephant Coins

The Somalian Silver Elephant is a timeless African Silver coin minted for more than a decade as part of the African Wildlife series. Despite the fact that the series was released in 1999, the first Somalian Elephant Silver coin was produced only in 2004. These remarkable silver coins are issued by the Bavarian State Mint in Munich, Germany, on behalf of the Somali Republic and are available in colorized, relief proof, and gold versions. However, between 1999 and 2003, the coins were produced under Zambia’s mintage authorization, although they were also struck by the Bavarian State Mint at that time. The Somalian Silver Elephant is produced of 1 oz. of .999 pure silver, usually in brilliant uncirculated condition, with a face value of 1,000 Somali Shillings if produced prior to 2006, and of 100 Somali Shillings if minted after 2007. This beautiful coin is also available in the other sizes of 1/10, ¼, ½, 2, 5, and 10 oz.

Design of Somalian Silver Elephant Coins

The growing popularity of the Somalian Silver Elephant coin has increased significantly over the years, driving up the premium of these exquisitely detailed coins. These superb pieces carry on their reverse a unique image of an African elephant species called the Bush Elephant which is globally well known for being aggressively hunted and killed for its extremely valuable ivory tusks. The depiction of the African elephant changes every year, making the Somalia Silver Elephant an exclusive piece of the African coin collection and a must-have for any numismatist. The reverse also contains the inscriptions “Elephant”, “African Wildlife”, and the coin’s weight and purity. The obverse side of the coin depicts the Somalian coat of arms, two leopards holding a shield with horizontal lines and a star in its center. Below the shields and the leopards are two large spears that cross each other. Besides the Somalian coat of arms, the obverse side also features the inscriptions of the country’s name, year of mintage, and face value.

About South African Silver Krugerrand Coins

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of its landmark series, the South African Mint issued its first Silver Krugerrand coin in proof and premium uncirculated finishes. A highly-awaited coin by collectors and investors around the world, this stunning piece is struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and carries the same obverse and reverse design as the original gold coin: the profile portrait of Paul Kruger on the obverse and the stunning Springbok antelope on the reverse. Being a world-famous icon of prestige and wealth, this outstanding coin recently released on the market is a treasured keepsake for any collection or portfolio.

The demand for these prized coins often exceeds expectations, and with low mintages accessibility often wanes rapidly.
