The Nine Worthies Series is a new coin collection that features nine historical, scriptural, and legendary people who encompass the chivalrous ideal. The people chosen for this series are those identified by Jacques de Longuyon in his book The Vows of the Peacock. There are three major groups that emerged from the text: the Pagan, Christian, and Jewish peoples. Hector of Troy falls into the Pagan group and is the first release for this collection. Known as the Champion and Prince of Troy, Hector is a figure famously known for his chivalry and honor. Homer described him as a noble warrior who fell honorably to Achilles to save his wife and child.  

This Hector of Troy bi-metallic coin was minted with a special process called Bi-Metal Plus. This process required completely covering an 11.5 oz copper center with 2 oz layers of .999 fine silver. These ultra-high relief coins were then given an antique finish.

The obverse of the Hector of Troy coin bears the portrait of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. She is surrounded by animals such as birds and lizards native to Troy and the legal tender is bordered by ornaments arranged in a four-petal flower shape. The reverse of the coin features the portrait of Hector of Troy in his battle gear. A bird crouches on his head behind his crown. The background features the same creatures found on the obverse.
