This is also a certified legal tender of the island of Niue, so these coins carry a face value of $5. Furthermore, these coins have a limited mintage of only 500. Journey to the 1400s with this collectible coin and revel in the history of one of the world’s most fearsome rulers!

Vlad the Impaler was a Wallachian Prince and went down in history as a ruthless leader. His cruelty coined his name “Vlad the Impaler” particularly for his practice of slowly killing his enemies by impaling them. He was also rumored to drink the blood of his enemies, which later inspired the gothic tale of Dracula. Although a cruel leader, his influence kept the Ottomans out of Europe for a time. This substantial coin will make a great gift for your favorite history buff!

This Vlad the Impaler bi-metallic coin was minted with a special process called Bi-Metal Plus. This process required combining two metals, which resulted in an ultra-high relief coin. 11.5 oz of copper fills the center of the 2 oz silver coin, and it was finally topped off with an antique silver finish. Also, this coin comes with a transparent acrylic card painted with a ‘bloody’ silhouette. When you layer this over the coin, it further remarks upon the history of Vlad the Impaler.

The obverse of the coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing her crown and earrings. This portrait is all but engulfed by the border of the coin that has skulls and crossbones. Inscriptions include the country of the legal tender, the year, “QUEEN ELIZABETH II”, and the face value.

The reverse of the coin illustrates a scene with Vlad the Impaler feasting and glaring at the viewer of the coin. His hand rests on his goblet, and besides his plates are large knives. Behind him are flags swaying in the air and the corpses of his enemies impaled on sticks.
