The brand new 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagle is now available coated in black ruthenium with pure, 24 karat gold clad highlights, this update gives this new Eagle an incredible visual appeal. Ruthenium provides a harder coating than rhodium and was developed to both protect jewelry and give it a trendy cool look. The Eagle is then sent to the Merrick Mint where it gets its Black Ruthenium coat with 24 karat gold clad highlights.

The artistic appeal of the design is exceptional. The reverse displays the Heraldic eagle symbolizing strength and endurance designed by the American engraver John Mercanti. Both the obverse and reverse are covered by the beautiful black ruthenium with the 24 karat gold clad highlights.

- Reverse: Displays a heraldic eagle behind a shield clutching an olive branch in its right talons and arrows in its left talons with 13 small stars above the eagle, representing the original colonies, designed by John Mercanti
