$10 Gold Eagle Liberty Head - Polished or Cleaned (Random Year)

The $10 Gold Eagle Liberty Head Coin, also known as Coronet Eagle was the largest denomination gold coin issued under the Mint Act of 1792. Struck with .900 purity, the size of these coins can be a little different from one another. Considering the rarity of Coronet eagles due to melting and attrition in heavy circulation, these coins hold good numismatic value, and a far higher intrinsic value than its face value.

Having served as the third chief engraver of the United States Mint, many coins were designed under the tenure of Christian Gobrecht, including these Gold Eagle Liberty Head coins. He also modified its design to have the eagle’s bust centered over the date before which, the coins minted during 1838 and early 1839 had the shoulder line of Liberty directed and placed between the twelfth and the thirteenth star. The revamped design stayed in mintage until the end of the Coronet series in 1907, after which it was replaced by Indian Head motif design created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, which stayed in mintage until 1933.

Due to their cultural significance in the US, these pre-1933 coins are highly sought-after by collectors and by investors for their bullion content.
