This beautiful 99.9% platinum coin tells the story of the famous and heroic William Tell, who successfully shot an apple of his son's head to save them both in the 15th century. The obverse features Tell with either his son or alone—and of course his famous bow and arrow. You'll additionally find the inscription "Einlosbar an Wilhelm Tell." The reverse features the Swiss Coat of Arms with over crossed muskets. Twenty-three Swiss states surround it. WILLIAM TELL (LEGEND IN SWISS HISTORY)

William Tell was a rebel who refused to bow against an invading lord. As punishment, the Lord required Tell to shoot an apple, in a single shot, on the top of his son's head. If Tell missed, the Lord would kill both Tell and his son. However, Tell made the shot. In a further act of rebellion, he admitted to the Lord that his second bolt was nearby to kill the Lord if necessary. The Lord was so angry that he had Tell tied up and sent him onto his boat to the Lord's castle. The story continues that a mighty storm broke out and the ship became lost. The sailors on the vessel released Tell to help pilot it. Instead, Tell escaped and found the Lord and killed him. The murder started a rebellion, and Tell is known as a hero worldwide.
