History of Pahlavi Iranian Gold Coins
Pahlavi gold coins were the official gold coins of Iran from 1926-1979. The currency of these coins was called “Pahlavi.” These gold coins came to be when Reza Shah Pahlavi came into power and ended with the 1979 Revolution in Iran. In 1979, the currency was then “Bahar Azadi.” The Shah minted several gold coins to represent himself and his time as the king.

Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was the last Shah (king) of Iran. He came out of power when the people of the Iranian Revolution of 1979 overthrew him. However, during his time in power, he had several lofty goals. He wanted a “great civilization” for his country and people. This lead to massive growth in military and industrial modernization. Also, his time in power saw many economic and social reforms.
