Gold Coins From Asia

Asian Gold Coins

Gold coins from Asia are known to have a very rich history and some of the oldest coinages in the world. Today, some of the most popular Asian coins come from the Singapore Mint as well as from KOMSCO, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation. KOMSCO produces some of the most well known Korean medals, including the Chiwoo Cheonwang, Gallus, and Korean Tiger series. Meanwhile, the Singapore Mint produces a wide selection of popular Lunar Series coins that vary in sizes and contain .9999 fine gold.

The Chiwoo Cheonwang series features the same obverse each year, showing the famous shield of Chiwoo Cheonwang above a latent security feature and the KOMSCO logo, surrounded by the date, fineness, denomination, and “Republic of Korea” written on top. The reverse of the coin changes with each new release. The Gallus medal series features a similar pattern of the obverse as the Chiwoo Cheonwang series and the obverse changes with each new release as well. KOMSCO also has produced the Korean Tiger Coins since 2016. The Tiger medals have a limited mintage each year and the design of the obverse and reverse changes annually.
