The 11th editions of the Perth Mint’s highly popular Lunar II Series are the 2018 Year of the Dog Lunar Gold and 2018 Year of the Dog Lunar Silver.

Year of the Dog
These beautiful coins celebrate the Year of the Dog.
The dog is one of the twelve animals of the Chinese Calendar. The Lunar Years of the Dog are 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, and 2018. Certainly, those who are born under this sign are considered as amiable, kind, friendly, and loyal.
These coins are meticulously struck from .9999 fine silver and gold in bullion quality. Furthermore, these rare coins are an excellent anniversary gift and treasured addition to any portfolio.
The 2018 Year of the Dog Silver Lunar Coin showcases a German Shepherd dog. The delightful pup is lying in the grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background, framed by the inscriptions “Year of the Dog,” “P” mintmark, and the Chinese character for “dog.”
The gold coin’s reverse depicts a Labrador Retriever on rocks and featuring a stylized pine tree in the background encircled by the same inscriptions.
Their obverse side displays the renowned effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, courtesy of Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the coin’s denomination, purity, weight, and the engravings “Elizabeth II”, “Australia”, and “2018”.

The production of all sizes, except for 1 kilo in silver, will close at the end of 2018. 2018 is when the mint will declare the official mintage of each coin.
