ANA World’s Fair of Money Debuts in Oklahoma City This August

A Landmark First for the Nation’s Premier Numismatic Event

The 134th annual American Numismatic Association (ANA) World’s Fair of Money® will make history this summer as it heads to Oklahoma City for the very first time.Scheduled for August 19–23, 2025, the show will take place at the Oklahoma City Convention Center, drawing thousands of collectors, dealers, and mints from around the globe. With an expected attendance exceeding 8,000 visitors, the Fair will feature over 500 dealers offering rare coins, paper money, medals, and bullion - alongside world-class educational exhibits and special releases.

A Brief History of the World’s Fair of Money

Since its inception in 1891, the ANA World’s Fair of Money has been the crown jewel of U.S. numismatic events. Held annually in rotating cities, the show offers a dynamic blend of marketplace activity, museum-quality displays, and educational seminars. Over the decades, it has grown into an international hub where collectors can discover rarities, connect with experts, and witness historic coins firsthand.

Show Highlights & Museum Showcase

Attendees can explore extraordinary numismatic treasures at the Money Museum Showcase, each offering a unique window into coin history and design:

  • 1907 Ultra High Relief Double Eagle ($20 gold)
Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens at President Roosevelt’s request, this high-relief masterpiece took multiple strikes to fully capture its beauty and remains one of America’s most admired coins.

  • 1804 Draped Bust Silver Dollar
Known as the “King of U.S. Coins,” only 15 are known. Though dated 1804, none were struck in that year - these rare gems were produced later for diplomatic purposes.

  • Medals of the Renaissance
These impressive portrait medals from the 14th–17th centuries mark the origins of modern medallic art and reflect the era’s cultural revival.

  • 1913 Liberty Head Nickel
Just five are known to exist. Their emergence after the design was officially retired adds to their legendary status among collectors.

  • 1792 Washington Indian Peace Medal
One of the smallest Washington medals, presented to Native leaders as tokens of peace. Only about 20 are known to survive today.

  • Electrum Coins of Asia Minor
Among the earliest coins ever struck, this exhibit traces the transition from simple electrum punch coins to more refined designs in ancient minting.

  • First Coins of Mexico (1536–1572)
Featuring rare 3-real pieces, this collection includes coins minted in Mexico City shortly after the conquest - marking the beginning of New World coinage.

  • Zimbabwe Hyperinflation Notes
These bills offer a sobering glimpse into one of the worst modern episodes of inflation, with denominations that once reached into the trillions.

  • Bank of the United States Obsolete Currency
Featuring historical notes and checks - including signatures of Andrew Jackson and General Winfield Scott - this collection highlights the financial history of early America.

Education, Auctions & Seminars

  • Sundman Lecture Symposium: Wednesday, August 20 — This year’s theme is “Culture’s Mirror: How Coins Reflect Popular Culture.”

  • Money Talks Sessions: Thursday and Friday, offering dynamic 30–45-minute presentations on numismatic topics.

  • Young Collectors Corner: A free, youth-focused program on Saturday, August 23, introducing children aged 5–17 to the joy of coin collecting.

  • Intermediate Grading Seminar: August 17–18 — A hands-on course focusing on grade-level skills for U.S. coins.

  • ANA Banquet & Live Auction: Friday evening, August 22 — Includes awards presentations, recognition ceremonies, and auction events.

Attendees can also purchase other available U.S. Mint products at the booth, offering an additional opportunity to acquire sought-after items during the show.

Commemorative “NOMISMA” Coins from Minted Assets

ANA collaborator Minted Assets will debut a special commemorative program at the show. These legal tender coins, issued for Ascension Island and designed by acclaimed artist Joel Iskowitz, will be distributed daily at Tables 1132–1134. The “NOMISMA” design - rooted in the Greek word for “essential value” - blends Oklahoma landmarks, the ANA logo, and symbolic cultural elements from the host city. Though not U.S. Mint products, these limited-edition pieces provide a distinctive keepsake marking the Fair’s first appearance in Oklahoma City.

First Look at the Oklahoma Goldback Series

Another major draw will be the exclusive preview of the upcoming Oklahoma Goldback series, ahead of its official August 25 launch. Part of the popular Goldback voluntary currency program, these 24-karat gold notes feature intricate micro-engraved designs celebrating Oklahoma’s cultural and natural heritage. Attendees will be among the very first to see these collectible notes in person before they become available to the public.
