2024 South Korea 1 oz ZI:SIN Draco Gold Medal BU

2024 South Korea 1 oz ZI:SIN Draco Gold Medal BU

With only 300 pieces produced, the 2024 South Korea 1 oz ZI Draco Gold Medal BU is an exceptionally limited gold release combining Korean mythology, dramatic artwork, and substantial precious metal content. Struck by KOMSCO, this Brilliant Uncirculated medal contains 1 troy ounce of .999 fine gold and represents the eighth release in the ZI Series. Its powerful design introduces Draco, a dragon guardian associated with strength and authority, making this issue especially fitting for the 2024 Year of the Dragon.

KOMSCO's ZI Series draws inspiration from the Twelve Guardians, mythological protectors associated with different animals and directions. The concept has roots in East Asian traditions and developed its own distinctive place within Korean mythology, where the guardians are portrayed as defenders against destructive and evil forces. Each release gives one guardian a detailed warrior identity, allowing KOMSCO to combine traditional mythology with contemporary medallic artwork.

The 2024 issue introduces Draco, the eighth figure represented in the ZI bullion series. Associated with the Azure Dragon and the eastern direction, Draco represents qualities such as power, authority, nobility, and good fortune. Within KOMSCO's interpretation of the mythology, Draco is a formidable warrior capable of commanding dragons and fighting enemies from the sky.

Draco's dramatic dragon-riding design, the protective Doggaebi imagery, and its connection to the Year of the Dragon give the medal a strong identity within the expanding ZI collection. With just 300 gold medals issued, opportunities to obtain this eighth-series release may become increasingly limited as examples enter private collections.
