The obverse of the coin features the “Walking Liberty” design by Adolph A Weinman. Lady Liberty walks towards the rising sun as she gently holds branches in her left arm. Her right arm reaches towards the sunlight in a hopeful gesture. Lady Liberty’s dress billows in the wind and the American flag is draped around her shoulders. “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” are both inscribed on the obverse along with the year of issue.
The reverse of the coin showcases the new reverse image designed by artist Emily Damstra. A fierce bald eagle soars through the air while carrying an oak branch in its talons, possibly for use as nest-building material. The eagle is encircled by inscriptions including the weight, purity, and denomination of the coin.
