The obverse of the silver eagle depicts Adolph A. Weinman's historic “Walking Liberty” design. Lady Liberty walks towards the sunset with oak and laurel branches in her left arm, stretching her right arm to the horizon. The American flag is draped over her shoulders, billowing in the gentle breeze.

The original reverse features John Mercanti’s design of the national US Coat of Arms. A bald eagle spreads its wings as it grasps a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. The eagle also clutches a banner reading “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak, and bears a shield on its chest showing the US flag. The thirteen stars above the eagle symbolize the 13 colonies.
