Since its inception in 1986, the American Gold Eagle coin remains the official bullion coin of America. The background displays rays of sunlight that radiate from the US Capitol in the distance behind Lady Liberty.

The reverse of this proof American Gold Eagle coin bears the Miley Busiek “Family of Eagles” design. One parent eagle returns to the nest where the other parent and their hatchling await. The flying eagle returns with an olive branch in its talons.
