Lady Liberty walks forth, carrying with her a flaming torch and an olive branch. The sunrise illuminates the US Capitol behind her.

The reverse of the Gold Eagle features a close-up image of the left side of a bald eagle’s head as designed by AIP artist Jennie Norris. Inscriptions surround the eagle including the country, weight, purity, denomination, “E Pluribus Unum”, and “In God We Trust”.
