Dating back to ancient times, the royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom represents absolute authority and military might. Used by the governing British monarch, the Coat of Arms has undergone various changes throughout the years. The royal coat of arms is now used by Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II. 

The obverse of the coin features the royal bust of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. The Queen’s head faces right, adorned with her royal crown and elegant jewelry. 

Artist Timothy Noad designed the reverse of the coin, which showcases the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. A lion and unicorn seemingly leap from behind a shield, which displays the emblem representing the nations of the United Kingdom. The rampant lion represents Scotland, the harp represents Ireland, and the three lions represent England. The phrase ‘Dieu et mon droit’ (‘God and my right’) is inscribed underneath the lion and unicorn. Additionally, the phrase ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’ (‘shame upon him who thinks evil upon it’) is inscribed upon the shield. The background of the reverse features a radial line texture which enhances the design’s collectible appeal.
