The story of Saint George and the Dragon is commemorated on this magnificent Valiant silver coin. According to the myth, a princess was about to sacrifice herself to a fierce dragon after drawing the short straw. This dragon had plagued the princess’s city for years, and the citizens discovered the only way to placate it was to offer human sacrifices once every day. Moments before the dragon ate the courageous princess, Saint George galloped to the rescue, fighting off the vicious beast and saving the city.
The obverse of this coin features the royal bust of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Jody Clark. Inscriptions: “ELIZABETH II”, “D.G. REG F.D.” and the denomination.
The reverse of the coin depicts the scene of Saint George battling the ferocious dragon while riding his trusty steed. This striking design was the result of a collaboration between artists Etienne Millner and Emma Noble. Inscriptions: “2021”, as well as the weight and purity of the coin.
