Debuting in 2019 to great success, the Faberge Egg Coin Series was introduced to honor the Russian jeweler who created the famous Fabergé eggs: Peter Carl Faberge. On the 100th anniversary of Peter’s death in 2020, CIT honored this talented and visionary artist by releasing the Apple Blossom Egg Coin. For the second issue, CIT now pays homage to the Rose Trellis Egg, which was presented as a gift from Tsar Nicholas II to his wife, Alexandra Feodorovna, on Easter in 1907. As a surprise, the inside of the egg contained a diamond necklace and an ivory miniature portrait of the tsarevich Alexei which was framed in glittering diamonds. 

The obverse of the coin displays the state emblem of the Mongolian People's Republic above the coin’s denomination of 1000 Togrog. The other inscriptions include “MONGOLIA” as well as the weight and purity of the coin.

The reverse of the coin features an ultra-high relief proof colorized rendering of the Rose Trellis Egg, which is partially gilded with gold. In the background, delicate lighter-relief floral designs surround the egg. The date 1907 appears on the bottom of the coin, while 2021 is inscribed on the right side of the egg.
