The obverse of the Type 2 Silver Eagle coins displays a modified version of the Adolph A. Weinman “Walking Liberty” design. Restored elements include Weinman's initials, the year of mintage font, as well as minor details for Liberty's eye, bonnet, flag, and the solar rays. Lady Liberty marches forward towards the setting sun. She carries oak and laurel branches in her left arm while extending her right arm to the horizon. The American flag is draped over her shoulders and billows gently in the breeze.

The new reverse of the Type 2 Silver Eagle by artist Emily Damstra features the American bald eagle in flight as it carries an oak branch in its talons. The eagle is surrounded by inscriptions including the country, weight, purity, denomination, and the US motto “E Pluribus Unum”.
