For the first time ever, the Gold and Silver American Eagle coins include a new design addition: the V75 privy mark! The special shape that borders the WWII Silver Eagle’s V75 privy mark is inspired by the Rainbow Pool in Washington, DC, which was added to the official World War II Memorial in 2001. V75 stands for “Victory” and the anniversary year. Notably, the V75 privy mark also appears on the US Mint’s circulating America the Beautiful quarters! The obverse of the WWII Silver Eagle coin features the Walking Liberty design, created by Adolph A Weinman. Lady Liberty walks toward the sunrise and extends her arm towards it in a welcoming gesture. Her other arm cradles olive and oak branches as the American flag around her shoulders gently ripples in the wind. “LIBERTY” is inscribed along the rim of the coin, along with the year of issue, West Point mintmark, the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST”, and the special  V75 privy mark. 

The reverse contains John Mercanti’s rendition of the US National Coat of Arms. A bald eagle spreads open its wings while clutching a bundle of arrows in one talon, an olive branch in the other, and a banner in its beak. This banner reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”, and it falls slightly over the US flag shield on its chest. Thirteen stars decorate above the eagle’s head to symbolize the original thirteen colonies.
