The American Eagle coin series began about 35 years ago in 1986 with Gold and Silver American Eagles editions. This year, for the first time, the Gold and Silver Eagle coins get a new addition: the V75 privy mark! The outline of the WWII Silver Eagle’s V75 privy mark mimics the shape of the Rainbow Pool, which became part of the World War II Memorial located in Washington, DC in 2004. The letter V stands for ‘Victory’ and the number 75 represents the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII. The V75 privy mark also appears on the US Mint’s circulating America the Beautiful quarters. This WWII Silver Eagle is the first of its kind, so secure yours today to make a remarkable Silver Eagle coins collection.
The obverse of the 1 oz Silver Eagle coin bears the ‘Walking Liberty’ wherein Lady Liberty moves to the coin’s left as she extends her arm towards the sunrise. The American flag around her shoulders gently sways behind her. She also holds olive and oak branches in her left arm. The word “LIBERTY” is inscribed along the rim of the coin, along with the year of issue, the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST”, and the special V75 privy mark.
The 1 oz Silver Eagle coin’s reverse contains the John Mercanti US National Coat of Arms interpretation. Here, a bald eagle spreads its wings wide while clutching a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. It also holds a banner in its beak that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. On its chest is a shield emblazoned with the US flag. Thirteen stars shine above the eagle’s head to signify the original thirteen colonies.
