The V75 Privy mark on the 2020-W Proof Gold Eagle makes this year’s issue truly unique. The “V” stands for Victory while the “75” denotes the number of years that have passed since WWII’s end. Adding an extra element to the image, the privy mark itself is shaped like the Rainbow Pool in Washington DC, which was designed by Frederick Olmsted Jr. This reflection pool was notably integrated into the World War II Memorial in 2001.

The obverse of the V75 Privy Proof Gold Eagle displays the famous Augustus Saint-Gaudens depiction of Lady Liberty striding forward. She carries a torch in one hand and a laurel branch in the other. The capitol building stands behind her with the sunrise glimmering over the top. The obverse also features the special edition V75 privy mark and W mintmark.

The reverse of the 2020 Gold Eagle, designed by artist Miley Busiek, features a family of bald eagles. While clutching an olive branch in its talons, one parent lands in its nest- where the other Eagle parent and hatchlings await.
