The obverse displays the renowned Adolph A Weinman design known as “Walking Liberty.” Lady Liberty makes her way toward the rising sun with oak and laurel branches in her left arm. Her right arm reaches out in the direction of the sunrise. The US flag is draped over her shoulders, and it softly sways in the breeze alongside her dress. 

The John Mercanti reverse proudly displays the heraldic US bald eagle with a shield, arrows, and an olive branch. The US flag shield sits on its chest as the eagle carries arrows and an olive branch in its talons. In its beak is a banner that reads the US motto “E Pluribus Unum.” Above its head lies thirteen stars to symbolize the original colonies.
