2020 is the year just before the 35th Anniversary of the American Gold and Silver Eagle coins program. Consequently, 2020 marks one of the last times the John Mercanti reverse appears on the Silver Eagle coins before the redesign. For the end of this phase one Silver Eagle coin collection, this 1 oz Silver Eagle was struck as an emergency issue by the San Francisco Mint due to the temporary closure of the West Point Mint. Since the San Francisco Mint was among the first to produce the American Eagle coins, this limited edition release commemorates the history between this US Mint coin and this facility. The Silver Eagles of 2020 carry the US Mint’s story, both generations old and brand new. Enrich your investments with this special 2020 Silver Eagle now.
The obverse of this US Mint coin proudly showcases Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty image in which Lady Liberty walks towards the rising sun. She cradles oak and laurel branches in her left arm as her right arm reaches toward the sun. The US flag hangs over her shoulders, and it flows softly in the air.
The John Mercanti reverse appears one final time in 2020. This design is a rendition of the Great Seal of the US. This seal design features the heraldic bald eagle with a US flag shield over its chest. The Eagle carries a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons and a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak. Above its head lies thirteen stars to signify the original US colonies.
