2020 (P) 1 oz Silver American Eagle PCGS MS 70 FDOI (Philadelphia) Emergency Issue

Please note this coin was produced by the Philadelphia Mint but does not carry the "P" mint mark.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic briefly shutting down the US Mint’s West Point and San Francisco Mints, the Philadelphia Mint struck 240,000 of the 2020 Silver American Eagles. These particular coins also have the special edition PCGS green Philadelphia label noting their perfect MS 70 grading and FDOI designation. Similar to the other 2020 Silver Eagles, these Silver American Eagles were struck from .999 fine silver and weigh 1 troy oz. This impeccable 2020 (P) 1 oz Silver American Eagle Emergency Production PCGS MS 70 FDOI (Philadelphia) offers you a gorgeous and unprecedented coin to add to your collection, so order yours now from Bullion Exchanges!

Beginning in 1986, the American Eagle Series was highly anticipated and well-received by collectors as the first US bullion coin series since FDR outlawed private possession of bullion during the Great Depression. To this day, the American Eagle silver bullion coins are persistently among the most popular collectible coins. Produced by the US Mint and backed by the US government, Silver American Eagle dollar coins also make a great first buy for anyone beginning to collect bullion coins.

The obverse of the Silver American Eagle features the original Adolph  A. Weinman 1916 “Walking Liberty” design found on the American silver half dollars. Lady Liberty marches to the coin’s left. Her right arm reaches towards the rising sun with the American flag waving behind her in the background. She also bears a bounty of olive and oak branches in her other arm.

The coin’s reverse displays John Mercanti’s updated United States national seal. This illustration displays a bald eagle with its wings spread wide. It holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other to symbolize the “strength through peace” US mentality. Hanging from its beak is a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its chest bears a shield emblazoned with the US flag, and 13 stars shine above the eagle’s head as a reference to the original colonies.

  • Graded by PCGS as MS 70 with the First Day of Issue designation

  • Reverse: Displays the US national coat of arms. Here, a bald eagle clutches an olive branch in its right talons and arrows in its left. 13 small stars fly above the eagle, representing the original colonies. The eagle has a shield bearing the flag on its chest. Inscriptions include the weight, purity, denomination, and country’s name around the rim. An updated design by John Mercanti.
