2021 begins the 35th Anniversary year of the American Gold and Silver Eagle coins program. As a direct result, 2020 Silver Eagle coins are among the last to feature the John Mercanti reverse before the redesign. Back in 1986, the first American Eagle coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint. To bring this collection full circle, this Silver Eagle coin collection was struck by the San Francisco Mint. This limited edition release honors the relationship between this US Mint coin and this specific facility. The Silver Eagles of 2020 carry the US Mint’s story, both during this year and previous decades. Complete your collection of the inaugural designed Silver Eagle coins now with this special release.
The obverse of this US Mint coin proudly showcases Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty image in which Lady Liberty walks towards the rising sun. She cradles a bounty of branches in her left arm as her right arm reaches toward the sun. The US flag hangs over her shoulders, and it flows softly in the air.
The John Mercanti reverse appears one final time in 2020. This design is a rendition of the Great Seal of the US. This seal design features the heraldic bald eagle with a US flag shield over its chest. The eagle carries a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its talons and a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in its beak. Above its head lies thirteen stars to signify the original US colonies.
