The Yale of Beaufort is one of ten heraldic creatures from the popular Queen’s Beasts series. Following the success of the Yale in gold and silver, The Royal Mint released a new platinum version of this coin. This new addition is struck from .9995 platinum with the weight of one troy oz.

This series is an original rendition of the 10 royal statues that stood guard at the entrance to Westminster Abbey at Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. She became the world’s longest-reigning monarch in 2015. 

Each coin in the series supports a badge of arms of every family connected to the Queen’s ancestry. The Yale of Beaufort descends to Her Majesty through Henry VII from his mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort, a key figure in the War of the Roses and matriarch of the Tudor Dynasty.

Jody Clark’s striking design of Yale is featured on the reverse of the coin along with the weight, purity and the year of the issue. The profile portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of the coin, framed by the inscriptions of her name and the face value.
