This intricate bi-metallic coin features the Monkey King in the battle against the god Erlang Shen. Erlang Shen was sent to capture Sun Wukong, the trickster known as the Monkey King, after he destroyed Mother Queen’s peach party and 100,000 soldiers. Peaches are a particularly holy symbol of immortality, and such a divine fruit being attacked could not go unpunished. Therefore, the famed battle had to take place to punish the trickster for his evil-doing.

This silver and copper coin was minted with a special process called Bi-Metal Plus. This process required completely covering an 11.5 oz copper center with 2 oz layers of .999 fine silver. These ultra-high relief coins were then given an antique finish.

The obverse of this coin showcases the classic Ian Rank-Broadley design of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. She is surrounded by several lovely round borders, some with floral patterns.

The reverse portrays the half of the two battle-ready, enraged faces of the Monkey King and Erlang Shen. Their faces are split down the middle by a gilded Monkey King statue. Also, lightning strikes in the background behind the two gods.
